Yosemite

My friends and I decided to head over to Yosemite and spend some time in the great outdoors.

Bay Area National Recreation Areas
I often take pictures of the signs of places I visit. Since many of the National Recreation Areas have similar looking signs, I thought it'd be cool to visit the sites on the list and try and get a picture of them all.

Peninsula Photos

Half Moon Bay (2.19.06)
Since it was a nice day, my friends and I decided to head down to Half Moon Bay to shoot some photos. We visited a nursery and the tide pools.

Pescadero (7.26.03)
Along Highway 1 is the Pigeon Point Lighthouse. On my drive up from Santa Cruz, I saw the lighthouse and decided to stop for a few photos. Somewhere in Half Moon Bay, I saw a sign advertising fruits and "necatriens."

Stanford (7.31.02)
I headed over to Stanford University for some night photography. I was curious to see if the pictures would look better in black & white, so here they are for comparison.

Hillsborough (5.22.02)
Along the drive down 280 is the Father Serra Garden & Rest Stop where a statue of the pointing monk overlooks the Crystal Springs Reservoir. For years I've gone by it in a car and one day, I just decided to stop and see what was there. Apparently, this statue was a Stanford campus reject.

North Bay Photos

Haphazardly Hiking Mt. Tamalpais (9.1.03)
For Labor Day, I headed up to the sunny North Bay for a few miles of hiking. Although we were supposed to take the 6-mile loop (Pantoll-Matt Davis Trail- Coastal Trail-Willow Camp Fire Road-Dell Fire Road-Cataract Trail-Old Mine Trail-Pantoll), we ended up cutting out part of it and ended up doing around 4 or so miles.

Marin Headlands (8.10.03)
I knew that the North Bay had some really amazing views, so I headed up there on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Fort Cronkhite
While looking for the visitor center, we accidentally stumbled upon this place and decided to stop for a few photos.

Point Bonita
A lighthouse that is still in use today. In order to get to the base of the lighthouse, we had to hike about half a mile from the entrance and also cross this really rickety old bridge.

Marin Headlands Vista Points
Along the coastal drive in the headlands, there were some spots to stop and catch some amazing views.

Napa Valley (2.14.02)
So I finally made my first visit to Napa. Woohoo! Seems like Napa is one big gigantic winery. It's beautiful there though with all the open space and pretty hills. I visited the Niebaum-Coppola Winery, and dined at Pairs for lunch and then at Brix for dinner.

North Bay & Stinson Beach (10.13.01)
Since the weather was so nice this weekend, I headed up to the North Bay to enjoy the scenery as well as have a nice drive. The first stop was at the Muir Beach lookout point. If you looked towards the water, you could see until forever. That was really nice. Next was Stinson Beach, where I spent a lazy Saturday afternoon.

St. Mary's College, Moraga (5.01.04)
St. Mary's College has a beautiful campus. I suppose that's what you get when you're a private school with only 2,000-3,000 students.

Sunnyvale (8.26.02)
I played in a volleyball tournament over the weekend at Las Palmas Park. During one of the breaks, I had some time to steal away and take a couple of pictures.

Central California Coast

Santa Cruz (12.31.02 - 1.1.03)
For New Year's, I wanted to go some place a little different, so I headed down to Santa Cruz. I stayed at the Darling House, a cozy bed & breakfast that had a nice view of the Boardwalk and the wharf area. At the stroke of midnight, I enjoyed a small fireworks display at the clocktower downtown.

I went on a short roadtrip which totaled about 190 miles.

Carmel (6.28.02)
Here are some pictures taken during a short visit there. In one picture, there is a car that had crashed into a pole in the center divide.

Other Cities

Sacramento (3.15.02)
I made my first trip to Sacramento as a tourist. Now, I'd been there before, but never stopped at the sites. I visited the Capital Building as well as Old Town. After an afternoon of walking, I had dinner at Bandera.
