Wow, someone had a few words to say about my low-rider jeans entry from yesterday...

[insert email]

you have the good sense not to get low-rider jeans. i went to the mall today. too many people wearing low-riders a few sizes too small, so their body fat tends to spill over like overflow from a dam. and they probably were designed by a guy, for people like britney and christina and shakira, then everyone else followed sheep-like. baaaaaaa...

[end email]

Heheh, I thought it was funny so I decided to post it here.

So I went looking for some jeans today. Tried on 3 pairs and didn't like any of them. I guess the styles these days don't really match well with what is comfortable for me. I find that many of the jeans out there are low-riders. I don't really like wearing them very much simply because they're too low. I mean, if you're sitting down on a stool or something, the back part of your pants is pretty much exposing your underwear. I'm not particularly fond of flashing my undies to random people... mmm... I'm not very fond of flashing them to anyone I know either.

How on earth did they come up with low-riders anyways? Hmm... I bet a MAN designed them. You know, so that all these women would wear them and he could see their underwear...

Umm... that's not what I wanted to write about. Well, I had a systematic way of doing this clothes shopping. You see, I went pick out clothes that I know I'll have to try on before I buy (like jeans). Tops I don't really need to try on because I kinda know what size I am by holding it up. The thing is, I only like to go to the fitting room once because it's a hassle to drag everything in, change, and then change back. I'm also not very fond of changing in the dressing room. They're often too cramped and there's often a long line.

Anyways, I had tried on some clothes and while I was shopping around more more stuff, I found some shorts that I wanted to buy. The thing is, I already had all these other items that I wanted to get, but didn't want to bring it all in, so what I did was grab a small and a medium. I figure that I'd bring it home, try them on and then return the one that didn't fit. I wonder if that is more effort since I'd have to make another trip back to the store. Sometimes I do this and not go to the fitting room at all. Hehh.

8 months ago, I bid farewell to my home away from home. I don't know about you, but I sort of considered my workplace somewhat of a home. After all, I had spent more weekday waking hours there than I did at home. My co-workers were my daytime family since I also spent more time with them than I did with my own family.

I gathered up the last of my things and headed out the door with some of my co-workers for the very last time. I also remember at the office's last day, a couple of the tech guys brought in a bb-gun and shot at an empty pizza box. I thought the idea was pretty funny: people being laid off so someone brings a weapon into the office and fires a couple of rounds. I only thought it was funny because they weren't real bullets, and nobody was shooting at people.

Where has all the time gone?

One of my friends asked me today: "So it's bad to use a coupon on a date?" Well, it wasn't exactly a question, but more like a statement that he wanted me to respond to. I thought about it and said yes, but then he asked, "What about if you have a gift certificate?" You see, he recently received a gift certificate from his company for all the hard work that he's been doing lately.

I suppose he wanted to ask out a girl, but he's afraid that he would be perceived as cheap if he busts it out during the dinner. I thought about it and said that it probably depends on the kind of girl he asks out. Some would think it's cheap and not go out with him anymore, while others may find it nice that he wants to spend his reward on her.

But no matter what he does, he should definitely let the girl know when he invites her out to dinner that they will eat lavishly on the company dime. If it were me, I'd think it was really cool because he could spend that money on a group of people, but instead, he's just spending it on the two of us. Good luck!

I thought I wrote about this before, but I can't seem to remember, so I'll write about it anyways. I was hanging out with some friends and one of them asked if there were any movies I could just sit down and watch if I happened to catch it partway on TV or otherwise. Here's a short list in no particular order:

1. Clue; because I've seen it a bunch of times already.
2. Sleepless in Seattle; heh, I managed to catch it the other night.
3. Star Wars; the first one... er... episode 4 then?
4. Any Indiana Jones movie; because they're cool.

How would you feel if there were rumors going around the office saying that your company is going to pick up and move across the country? You'd be pretty scared, would you? Well, what if this same rumor was unknown around the office cooler but over the weekend, you see a headline plastered on the front page of the business section? Fears for BofA Securities' future in S.F. Layoffs, signals from N.Y. worry investment banking unit and its 1,200 employees That sucks.

So I think when my brother busted out the paper and read it, he must've been shocked. His company is rumored to pack up and leave for New York. But.. but.. how come he didn't know? How on earth did the press find out? Must've been those stinkin' execs and their big mouths.

Of course this is merely a rumor, but still, I say that usually the first place rumors spread are around the office. It doesn't look good when they post it in the paper. Time will tell. Of course, with a big company, it takes a while for things like that to happen... unless they were plotting all this before year's end. Heck, that's still a couple of months to start looking for a job.
