Saturday, May 24, 2003 ( 11:01 PM ) Scarf Girl Hooray, I've finally made it to Seattle. Well, actually, I'm in Bellevue now at my friend's really cool apartment. It's about 1,000 square feet for just $900! I can't believe it! I mean, I know that an apartment like this in Berkeley probably goes for double the price. *sigh* Bay Area prices are just so high. Let's see, after driving up the 5 for hours and hours, I realized that there really isn't a whole lot to see in Oregon. Well, that is unless you like trees. Well, time to mingle with the pals. So it would follow that women who can drive and put on make-up at the same time have super mad skills. I mean, to be able to drive AND look in the vanity mirror while putting on makeup is and art. Oh yeah, and while they're at it, to NOT get into and accident while they are also drinking coffee and talking on a cell phone. That takes mad mad skills. I only thought about that because while I was on the train this morning, some lady was applying her makeup. I mean, the train moves A LOT, with all the stopping and starting. To not end up looking like a clown at the end of the trip is no small feat. I applaud these women. I'm curious if they feel self concious at all about putting on make-up in public. I mean, people can see you do that. I would imagine this as something personal that you do, like flossing or putting on contact lenses. Hopefully we won't get stuck in too much of the Bay Area escape traffic. See you in a couple of days, although I'd probably blog if I can get my hands on the Internet. Have a great weekend! I recently received a wedding invitation from a friend I've known for a while now. When I opened up the invitation, I saw a little card mentioning that they have registered at macy's. I thought about it though, do I really want to give them a gift from the registry? In some ways, it's nice to know that the present I give them is something they want/need, versus some god-awful tacky gravy boat. I remember this converstation I had with one of my friends once. He was saying that the gift registry is ALL about the girl, and not much about the guy. Pots and pans, bed sheets, and towels are pretty standard on the registry lists, and when I checked out my friend's list, surely enough, there were pots & pans, bed sheets, and towels. Heehee. Well, although I know both the bride and groom, the groom is the one who is my friend. So, I guess I'll try buy something neutral or skewed his way. Not to shop from the gift registry it is! Coincidentally, it was also the team captain's bday. Since this league is a social league, people bring food and drinks. Drinks meaning soda, water, and beer. Yesterday however, there were some special drinks that were chilling in the cooler so my team started the party off a bit early. I think it's funny how when it's your birthday, much of the things people say to you go something like, "You HAVE to drink. It's your birthday!!" Personally, I wouldn't mind a nice buzz, since it makes you feel better and you can still remember the evening, but I say that if you pass out or puke, then the bday celebration just isn't fun anymore. Luckily the boys and girls seemed to be able to hold their liquor and everyone had a good time. Scarf Girl, signing off. # Sunday, May 18, 2003 ( 7:25 PM ) Scarf Girl Tired... so tired. Ack, and I think my feet may have some blisters too. Anyone know how to prevent them? I guess my cleats are a tad too big, which would explain my feet moving freely about them, causing blisters. It was a fun weekend of volleyball indeed, but I'm so stinkin' tired now. Heh, luckily no sunburns here, but I definitely have some color now. Scarf Girl, signing off. # |
