"The sun and moon are eternal voyagers. The years that come and go are travelers too. For those whose lives float away on boats, for those who greet life clasping the lead ropes of horses, travel is life, travel is home."

Roadtrip to Seattle
(5.23.03 - 5.27.03)
My friend Carrie began her optometry rotation up in Tacoma recently, but before that, she had to drive herself, her stuff, and her car up there. With a little bit of my help and Tony's help, 850 miles later, and a whole lot of music, we arrived safe and sound.

Day 1 (5.23.03)

Pit Stop: Vacaville
After nearly going insane from Bay Area traffic, we stopped off for a bathroom break and to switch drivers.

Lodging at Travelodge, Medford
The almost halfway point to Seattle was around Medford, OR, so we decided to stay the night there. I didn't know quite what to expect, and I got a few surprises.

Day 2 (5.24.03)

Pit Stop: Portland
Our last stop before Seattle was for lunch in Portland. We ate lunch at La Buca and walked along NW 23rd Avenue for a bit before hopping back into the car.

Sushi at Toyoda
We had dinner at a good out of the way Japanese restaurant named Toyoda. I wonder if the car company made them use a "d" in their name.

Dessert Wine & Cheesecake Revisted
Since Carrie, Raf and I had an adventure to get our dessert wine and cheesecake in Singapore 5 years ago, I thought that it'd be fun to have the same combo of treats. So, I brought up a bottle of Inniskillin Ice Wine and we picked up some cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory and toasted to good times.

Day 3 (5.25.03)

Brunch
We had brunch at a local and popular brunch spot called 5 Spot in the Queen Anne neighborhood. They have changing themes for the decor, and the current theme was Southwestern. Check out the huge slices of french toast.

Queen Anne Neighborhood
We visited the oldest high school in Seattle, Queen Anne High School. Students will no longer be hearing the school bell because the school has been turned into luxury apartments. Also around the area, we stumbled upon a nice lookout spot of the Space Needle and downtown Seattle.

Dessert at Dilettante
We went to a popular dessert place in Capitol Hill for some nice chocolate treats. Although we had to wait, it was well worth it as my chocolate cake was simply a delight.

Day 4 (5.26.03)

Memorial Day BBQ
Vince's friends were hosting a bbq at the very popular Greenlake Park. Since there was some sun, hundreds of people were hanging out in the park. There were grass volleyball nets, softball players, and picnikers.

U District
I suppose the Seattlites are kinda lazy and like to abbr. the areas in the city. The area near the University of Washington (U-Dub), is called the U District. We grabbed some dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant on University Ave, followed by some delicious pearl drinks at Pochi.

Day 5 (5.27.03)

Snoqualmie Falls
Although we were lame and didn't easily find the very easy to reach falls, we did manage to follow some signs and watch the 270 feet cascading falls.

Stadium High, Tacoma
I like to visit places that were used in film or tv. Of course, they have to look pretty amazing or unique. Either way, I try to seek it out. This castle-like school was used in the movie "10 Things I Hate About You." It's a gorgeous school with a spectacular view.
