Drink Club, Blind Tiger (6.28.01)
I finally ran out of excuses not to check out this Drink Club thing and went. This was my first time going and I had a lot of fun. The party was held at the Blind Tiger, located near Chinatown. A nice little place. I only took a few pictures but if you want to see the photos of a new-digital-camera-owner-so-I-gotta-take-lots-of-pictures person, click here.

Habitat For Humanity (6.23.01) - Photos courtesy of Amabelle S.
I suppose I must really like to help people because getting up early on a Saturday morning to do about 6 hours of manual labor is not easy. Somewhere in Oakland, there are 3 families eagerly awaiting the completion of their new home. I suppose that was what kept me going, as I was hammering away on the rooftop of one of the homes. Me and a few others (Amabelle, Jason, John, Daniel, & Dan) worked all day on installing shingles for one of the families. I definitely had a lot of fun and felt good at the end of a hard day's work.

Ocean Beach BBQ (6.16.01)
On a beautiful Saturday evening, the Sze Sisters (Amabelle & Felicia) got together with a bunch of their friends and had a bbq & bonfire at San Francisco's Ocean Beach. Although it got a little chilly, the bonfire that we built was just enough to keep us warm. We roasted marshmallows and had lots of laughs. I even got to eat my first s'more!! No, I didn't grow up in a cave, but I did grow up in a family that didn't eat s'mores.

Escape From Monkey Island PR Party (6.14.01)
On a very pretty Thursday evening, I went to a small PR party for the Playstation 2 release of Escape From Monkey Island. My friend Richard works for Lucas Arts and helped to make the game, so I suppose the company invited them to this little party. They went with the pirate theme and rented the Balcutha, a ship that sits on the water right off the Hyde St. pier. Because the party started around 6:30, I got to take some really nice photos of and from the ship.

Eric's Memorial Day BBQ (5.27.01)
This was my first year going to one of Eric's parties. His place is really cool.. it's got a nice back yard with a hottub! They even have this bonfire contraption. There was a lot of eating, and a bit too much drinking. Check out Eric flipping burgers!!

Cherry Picking (5.26.01)
I remember when I was a kid that my aunt took my two oldest brothers to go cherry picking. That sounded like a lot of fun, they didn't let me go since they thought I was too small and would probably fall off a ladder. Then when I got older, they stopped going. What a gyp!! So, on a nice sunny Spring day in May, I gathered up a bunch of friends and finally got to go cherry picking. It turned out to be a lot of fun, especially when we ate cherries straight off the tree. Of course, we rinsed them off first.

Ben's Birthday Celebration (5.19.01)
After having dinner at Kitaro's in the Richmond District, we gathered at Brian's house for a little cake (and I mean that literally), and a game of Mindtrap. The laughs started off when Ben cut the cake all crooked (hey, it's pretty hard to cut such a small cake). As for Mindtrap, we decided to divide the teams by the elementary school yard way: boys (Ben, Brian, and JC) against girls (Christina and me). It turns out that the guys won by just 1 question. And, when you're stumped, you end up with the box on your head!

April 2001

Las Vegas Volleyball Tournament (4.28.01 - 4.29.01)
Every year towards the end of April, there is this pretty big volleyball tournament that takes place in Las Vegas and the surrounding area. This year, I was invited to play with some really fun people: Vince, Elbert, Cindy, Peter, Kim, Phil, & Melissa. It was a two day tournament starting early in the morning on Saturday and Sunday, and lasted until late in the afternoon. We managed to barely take 1st place in our pool (yay us!!) through the aid of our power food (bananas, bread, lots of water and Gatorade), Elbert's "Angry Hair" (see the second photo), and our team-inspiring chant ("kill! kill! kill!"). An awesome weekend!!
